Senior year was by far the best year I had in art class, through Art 4 to AP Art, with the same awesome teacher and classmates. I have grown close to everyone in the class, and have grown to admire everyone's artistic ability and style. In the classroom I could seek help from anyone without the fear of annoying anyone with my questions, everyone was so supportive of each other and really wanted each other to succeed; to me that shows how amazing people can be, in all my years of school I have never had a class like this. My classmates and teacher were very good at helping me and giving me constructive criticism, but always made me feel confident about my work. Taking these two art courses was the best decision I have made during high school. These two classes helped me grow so much as an artist, which is something I want more than anything else. I learned new techniques, new styles, new media to use, and mostly to step out of my comfort zone as an artist.
Mrs. Rossi was an amazing teacher with her strict steps and critiques, she helped me grow so much as an artist, I wouldn't be where I am now without her guidance. I have made close friends in this art class, who have the same passion as I do, and I think these friendships are going to go a long way in the future! Throughout the year my artistic ability has gotten so much better, it is a big change. I have learned to take my time with detail, and taking the time to layer my paintings to add a lot of detail. I think detail is the secret to realistic quality art. I will never forget my experience in AP Visual Arts, I am so grateful I was able to make it this far as an artist in high school This is actually a project of mine that I did earlier in the course. This is the painting that made me realize that I love painting landscapes, which became my concentration for the most part. This project showed me that I want to put more detail in my paintings, and be able to spend time on them; unfortunately, I was rushed on time, because of the speed of the class. But this project was a quick way to create a beautiful painting full of the green and colorful life of the earth, that I love so much.
Going with my obsession with nature, I decided to do a small painting of nature over taking a man made object, in this case a fence. The way I showed nature over taking the fence I painted on vines and moss covering some parts of the fence. I think it is so cool when nature begins to almost consume something made by man, it is so beautiful.
I used acrylic paint for this, but I for once did not paint fine detail. Instead, I splotched on my strokes, tiny and large. I love how the painting turned out, it was also very stress free too create. I love painting nature and structures, like old houses! I found a really pretty old home back in the woods last summer with a bunch of wild flowers in front of it like a garden; so I captured a picture. Now, for art class I decided to paint my photo. I love painting houses because of the way they look, they are built a certain way so you must paint them a certain way. I paint them in layers, a lot like a house is built. I take baby steps with my paintings, which is a blessing and a curse; because of how much time it takes but how much wonderful detail is added.
This was a time consuming project but it was very enjoyable and easy to do. THIS PROJECT TOOK FOREVER, I will never do a large Prisma Color drawing of animals; way too many layers and strokes to do with Prisma color pencils.
It was a fun project that brought warmth to my heart though. I love animals, I wont even eat one! I even love rats! I don't see why people hate them so much. Since I love them and most people hate them I wanted to do a project for all the misunderstood rats out there. To make these rats more lovable and nice looking I made them have funky colored fur, the girl rat is purple and boy is green, making each other pop! I learned a lot from this project, I never have drawn fur like this so it was a very good practice. I love how this project turned out, I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. Because of my girly concentration, I decided I needed to do something sweet. I have always thought that those little cafe deserts in a glass were so pretty and cute looking; I just had to draw a few of them for a project!
My favorite fruity deserts are typically strawberry, peach, cherry, berry, or lime; but only cherry, strawberry, and lime worked out color and reference wise, the other deserts were not as pretty looking. I used Prisma Color pencils to complete this art piece, which I feel like was a mistake. It was very time consuming and tedious, but I feel like using paints would not be any easier. Prisma Color always takes me forever to use, and that was the case for this project. Drawing the fruit and granola through the glass was probably the hardest part. I love how it turned out though! c: I love lambs, I think they are the cutest baby animal out there, so I decided to draw one. I didn't want the colors of the lamb to look realistic so I used pink, purple, and blue for the little guy's wool. I figured having more playful colors on the lamb would make him look even cuter!
I used Prisma Color pencils for this art piece. It was a surprisingly quick project, it only took a few class periods to finish. Usually Prisma Colors are challenging for me to use and make me take forever, but for some reason not in this case. Maybe I am getting better! c: This piece goes with my consideration really well, which is things through a girl's perspective, everything in pastel, just how I like it. Being my first project of this art class I wanted to use as much colors as possible, so I did not follow my concentration. My concentration for this class is to complete my art using only pastel colors, so it pretty much is showing the view point of an angels eye.i did a painting because I feel like I cant make an permanent mistakes. I included a lot of detail in this painting, to show my devotion to this class and my art, this class really is for me to benefit so much from, so I tried to really practice my detail and make this project really awesome!
I love doing landscapes, it is so much fun and relaxing to me. I find comfort in the nature around me, and I really look at and focus on the beauty of it all. This landscape to me is a place I really want to be right at this moment. I had a lot of fun with the colors of the things in this painting, it was very enjoyable to paint. |
